I like the Norrhern Harvest, but f or the “best whiskey in the world” it's a bit overrated. There's definitely better whiskey out there, even at the price point. It was actually pretty annoying when that shit came out because there suddenly was so much demand for it outside Manitoba that we couldn't keep it on our own shelves because so much was leaving the province.

I’m home alone tonight so I want my dinner to have been made by someone else. I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to make that happen .

Also I was able to get through all the laundry since we now have a working washing machine, and I think that calls for a beer or two.

Some bratwurst and this guy. Will report back for my fellow NEOhio Oppos. It’s a better deal than normal Turbo S handy at $5/16 oz. The tequilla barrel aged is overrated.

I don’t think it’s the “best” but for $35 bucks it’s the best I can find in the price range in Ontario. I’d heard about the demand but I only found out about it a while after its release, and it’s plentiful at my local store.

I heard you like head. Wow that foamed a lot. The head is a nice lilight purple color, grape soda aroma. The beer itself is a brown/purple mix.

The first thing I taste is straight grape soda, followed by some bitterness. The finish is foamy, with no aftertaste. Mouth feel is like soda. There isn’t any debris from the can, like the barrel aged Turbo Shandies- this is probably more filtered.

On flavor, I would give this a 7 out of 10- it’s a little soda-y. Mouth feel is an 8.5. It’s very bubbly, which makes sense. It doesn’t really taste like a beer, much less a 7% beer. I could crush three or four without realizing what I was doing.

As a beer, I woul d give this 4/10. It’s too sweet and bubble. As a summer drink, however, it earns a solid 8.5/10. It’s delicious. If you see it on the shelf (Acme exclusive), snap it up.

Oh baby I love that combo (although I sub Coke for MD).

Last week I had a cheese pizza - I haven’t gotten a pizza without toppings in a very long time, but I ate the hell out of it (3/4 of a large pizza in one evening).

A few bottles of Stella Artois Cidre and a bag of spicy pork skins. My big meal is mid day, so I don't eat much at night.

I’m at work, so I’m having a can of Coca Cola and a cigar.

Have you tried doing a Cumberland Pie, it’s similar but you use cubed beef instead of minced. And on top of the mashed potato topping add some breadcrumbs and some shredded cheese. You only need about a tablespoon of breadcrumbs and half a cup of shredded cheese.

My only concern is that the cubed beef would be tough or chewy, but I guess that’s up to the cook who makes it.

Otherwise, this sounds fucking delicious.

Shandies are generally all-around great summer beers, Hoppin' Frog's Turbo Shandy especially. If you're in Ohio, I recommend it. A 22 oz bottle of the normal stuff (skip the tequilla barrel aged stuff- too bitter) is about $8 and worth it.

You’re in the Dayton area? I’ve seen Hoppin’ Frog at Arrow on Far Hills. Only found the barrel aged Turbo Shandy there though, out of season and $16/22 oz bottle though. Pretty good but not for that price. There’s plenty of good local stuff there, especially Yellow Springs and Dayton Beer C ompany, not to mention the stuff in Oregon.

It’s illegal to smoke in business premises here, your not even allowed to smoke in a work vehicle.

I’m not a fan of winter but at least the weather is somewhat predictable, spring and autumn are okay, most wet with a few nice days.

I enjoy the summer but when it’s above 25C all the time, for a Brit, it’s just not natural.

Yeah, I’m a couple miles from the Arrow location in Centerville.

$16 for a 22oz is far more than my cheapness will let me spend.

I’ve had several beers from warped wing and Yellow Springs brewery that I’ve enjoyed. I also go to Eudora brewing in Kettering for trivia night with some of my wife’s coworkers. I haven’t gotten anything from the Dayton beer company yet, but we’re planning to go there with a couple friends later this month so that’ll change soon enough.

There’s a new brewery getting ready to open in Yellow Springs as well, but I forget the name.

Our winters are all over the place. We don’t actually get that much snow compared to other areas . W e tend to have 300+ days of sunshine per year. It’s not uncommon for us to have strings of 60+ degree days in December and January but get pounded by snow in March and April.

Ouch, forget that stuff. I’m a Cummerlan, and here in Cumbria, we do rain. L ight rain, medium rain, heavy rain, showers, intermittent bursts of rain, drizzle, sporadic bursts of rain (you get the idea), so too many days of no rain, compounded by constant hot temperatures, we start thinking the world is going to end.

When American tourists came across, I’d ask if they brought a coat with them, they’d ask why and does it rain much and I’d try not to sound too sarcastically when I replied, ‘well it is called the Lake Distr ict for a reason’.

I like rain, to a point.  If we get more than a day of rain everyone starts comparing it to Seattle.  We could use some now, though, because part of the state’s on fire again.
